HELP - BFP dilemma

OK - I only have one Jem....a BFP which I really like. It's not immaculate.....I suppose Rich would call it 'players condition'. However, funds are really tight and I could sell the BFP and buy two 'lesser' guitars.....say a 2nd hand Ibanez S and a rare Ibanez Ghostrider that I have found (beaut guitar...but very different from a Jem).

I am in this dilemma because I play in a covers band that play a lot. Before Saturday - a string had never gone on the Jem therefore I never had to change guitars...

.....but on Saturday, the g-string snapped and I had to switch to my Dads USA Strat......well - you can imagine what that felt like..........Ferrari to a Ford Escort......

Hence the problem!!!Help!!!

keep the BFP and send that strat to someone who knows how to set them up properly. If a good tech gets a hold of a strat....it should be playing pretty good...not like a jem mind you, but it shouldn't kill you. Another option, have the fretboard of the strat planed to Jem specs and refretted with matching fretwire. Tone wise you'd have a different sound, but the change wouldn't shock you so much.

If you didn't have a discontinued Jem it wouldn't be such a tough call. It would be harder to find a BFP later on down the road....and it would cost you a lot more in the long run.

Quality, not quantity, my friend.

Why would you sell a guitar that you love to get two that you might not love? It doesn't add up.

And if you do decide to sell the BFP, let me know.

Keep it!! I'm not saying this because I have one and I love it.
I'm saying this because I've met many people crying because they had sold their BFPs.

you dont need a jem, get a nice 570 or 550, do a custom paint job, or swirl and change the pickups. Not only is it fun as hell to customize your guitars, youll have a jemalike, with the same body style, and proportions, and better yet, the same trem, so you wont really feel and sound that much different.
