if you can buy both, but both....
I doubt you'll be dissappointed with either.,
If you had to buy one, i say buy the 7vwh....more flexible.

Go with the VWH. Then when you are ready, let me know.....I have a BTB I will trade you straight up for ;-)

The VWH and the JS sound and play completely different.
The VWH has the 5 way selector, but the JS has the coil tap feature.

I personnaly like the feel of the JEM more than the JS; the body and neck.

My opinion

Well I have both a Jem7vwh and a JS 1000 and they really are totally different. The JS has a more traditional feel and the pickups are not as hot as the JEM. The JS neck feels more like a strat neck and the Jem has a very thin wide neck compared to the JS. If you like traditional style guitars like Les Pauls and Strats then I would say go for the JS but if you like the newer types of guitars go with the Jem. Also another big consideration is the Evolution pickups in the Jem are very high output and are kind of on the trebly side. So if you don't like alot of treble in your sound you might not like the evolutions as much as the the PAF pro and the Fred pickups in the JS. The Fred pickup that is in the bridge position of the JS has alot of mid-range to it so it gets that cool satch sound pretty easy. Another HUGE!!! difference in my opinion is the bridge route. On the Jem you can pull up on the bridge with the whammy bar alot more then you can on the JS. That is one thing that I always miss alot when I am playing the JS. So if you really like wanking on the whammy bar this is a big consideration I think. I like them both and would never get rid of either of them but it's apples to oranges they are totally different machines. But I think in the long run the Jem is a little more versatile.

Would you really say the Evo is trebly or itīs because the Jemīs "pickguard guitar" style and the woods used ?

A`pickguarded guitar is always trebblier, but basswood gives more trebble than alder too, so... tied.

Really, you can't try out either guitar? Where do you live? Maybe someone here can direct you to a local vendor.
