high production number for the 7vsbl?
Do you think that the 7vsbl will have a high production number like the 7vwh?

I hope so
I also think it will depend partly on Vai's willingness to use the guitar as his number one instead of the 7VWHs he uses now.
He's said that he's thinking of retiring Evo and if the new Blue one is soon to be his number one then yes, it'll probably have a long production run. But if he chooses another white one, then I think the blue one will be over and done with in a couple of years

Well, It seems that their pretty easy to get. I just order one (which was in stock at the factory) and I should have it within 2 week. I'm pretty geeked because it's my first jem after years of wishing for one.

Yep they're "in stores now"
How long they stay available and whether the production totals will be high is another question

The VSBL will have a low total, they're selling like pooh. I think I sold 3 this year, on the other hand I've sold about 20 VWH's.

Acually, thats kinda ok with me. It kinda sucks with you save up cash for a cool guitar, and it turns out that everybody and their brother has the same one.

Imho and speaking from a merely asthetic point of view, I think they goofed with the plain
white pickguard
on a dark-colored body. At least from the pics I've seen, it looks very strat-like. I'm sure it's very nice in person but a lot of people order these things without playing one first and pics are thier only source of visual input.

Pick guards
Yup, i have a 7VBSL, and its a great guitar, but like you say, white pickguard is a little dull, and strat-like. Eitherway, i have a crazy new
'tye-dye blue' guard coming soon, which is looking like its gonna be awsome, ill post pics when i got it.
Would be cool if the numbers stay low, and it becomes a little collectable, and holds its value. The odd person who does want it as opposed to the VWH will probably be prepared to pay that little bit more. Usually cause they cant stand white and gold!

Hmm.. just imagine buying a VWH and a VSBL and then swapping the hardware and pickguards... the result: a VWH that'd look good and a VSBL that I'd call "pimp axe"
hmmm... someone please do it and send me the pics of it.. or the pimp axe

I agree. I do believe that it's my favorite jem. But maybe with a blue
pearloid pickguard
.

I love the gold on the VWH... overall it's very classy. I swapped out the white plastic knobes for gold, and it's beautiful. I'm thinking the VSBL could have been planned out better... ebony feels a lot better than rosewood to me, and a lot of people I know. The pickguard I'll agree was another goof. Mirrored would have looked a lot better... maybe
chrome hardware
with it, etc... However, despite the visual dissatisfaction, It's probably still an awesome guitar and am even considering purchasing one to mod.
To those of us who don't like them as much, there are people out there who still do, and I think it's good that there's a variety out there. Something for everyone.

Im fine with rosewood, I think they did horribly with the vine though. A white vine would have fit, and it may have looked better with a pearl or clear pickguard in my opinion. I like the steel knobs better too
