In the process, shot some clear on it last weekend, need to sand it smooth and shoot the final clear coats and buff it out, hopefully will get the clear done over the long weekend.

So, this is one of my first tries at painting with "real" automotive clear poly. I didn't build up quite enough clear before I started wet sanding, so there are a few sand throughs to primer, oh well, I don't have much in the body/paint, so I'm either going to finish it with the marks, they really don't stand out in a swirl, or do a "relic" swirl which might be cool. No way to touch up a swirl...

Next project, I will pick the colors and will know better what I'm doing for the clear coat, already have the colors picked out, just going to wait until spring.

Here's how it came out... There were some marks in the finish so I just distressed it (DMC?), it actually came out pretty cool. But, the best part is that is plays and sounds killer, better than the original body for some reason, wood karma?

Looks great! You should get the board torn out and replace it with a flamed maple board + coloured DNA or pyramid inlay too!

Thanks! Yeah, I love maple, but no $ right now. This was supposed to be a cheap/quick project.

Ah ok cool! Maybe you can find yellow inlay stickers for the dots?

I'll pass on stickers, I'm good with the pearl dots, too much yellow is, well, too much... ;-) Mostly just wanted to add some color to the all black 7620, so, I'm fine with keeping it as toned down as a swirl can be ;-)
