not too high, usually. the Cliplock is a pretty long strap by default, even if you set it as short as it can go. and they also make an extended version! if you're an under-chin player, the Cliplock is not for you, unless you have your mom cutting it, shorten it to your specs and stitch it back. which is a tricky job though, and you'll also have the plastic thing right onto your shoulder-bone (how you call it). if you're a belly-player then the Cliplock is the best hands down.

Re: how high/low can cliplocks go on my jem?
I've just gotten a batch of straps from DiMarzio that are the "older/original" style as opposed to the longer tab ends that they've used for the last several years.
I had a talk with Petrucci a couple of years ago and he said they made shorter version for him.. so after I got my endorsement with them, I asked Steve Blucher and was told that they will make the "orginal length/shorter" strap for anyone. all you have to do is call them and order one.
BTW, its around 3 inches shorter than the current straps, doesn't sound like much, but made a HUGE difference in where the guitar sits.

it'd be cool if they made it in pink, orange and yellow, too.

Re: how high/low can cliplocks go on my jem?
Yeah, my old '80's cliplocks are much shorter, and really much better for that high prog guitar setup. The new ones are just a bit too long, so I use an old green strap for all my guitars and leave whatever clips are on them, on them. I have a bunch of the straps just sitting in cases unused

Re: how high/low can cliplocks go on my jem?
I know they'll still do the green ones or any of the current colors in that link if you call.. the other option might be to take your old straps to a place that does car interiors/covering and have them shorten and re-sew for you. I believe the strap material is basically like seatbelt stuff and they'd have a machine that could easily do that. Just a thought.

Re: how high/low can cliplocks go on my jem?
I always like my strap high as well. Makes for better picking in my case. It might look less HEAVY ROCK! but I'm not such a hard rocker anyhow.

Wow, I was about to order my first ClipLock. I really like to play high like Morello and
Steve Howe
, so I contacted DiMarzio about ordering a shorter one.
