How many have multiples - Jemophrenia

Guys,

Just wondering how many of you fellow forum folks had more than one JEM (I'm up to 5)?

If so, do you think they sound different? I think each one has a different tone. *I actually think some models have significant tone differences.

Maybe this should be a poll rather than a thread but what the hell, let's have some fun.

How many have multiples

Hi, between JEM's and UV's I'm up to 5.
They are, JEM777DY, JEM7VWH, JEM77FP (being shipped to me) UV777BK, UV7BK
I think each one has it's own tone and it's own feel, they are all different but the same. *The thing I love about the Jems, is they all feel good to me, I use each one for a different reason though. *Some seem faster, some sound better, just depends on what I want to do at the time.

...continued from previous post....
The all sound the same (same model year) with the exception of the 555, it has more sustain and has a little bit more bass on tape.

How many have multiples

I've owned and played many Jems, but never really found my 'perfect' Jem until I had a custom built based on Ibanez specs. *I had a custom neck built with abalone inlays and Pao Ferro rosewood fingerboard. *The detail to craftsmanship made the big difference. *No one can peel me away from that neck! *However, much of the great tone comes from the Jem10 body I still have attached to it. *

As far as production Jems go, by far my favorite for tone would have to be the Jem10. *I never really liked the tone of the LNG's and DSY's, maybe because of the pickups or because of the neck. *The tone I got from my VWH and Jem10 in my opinion was much more full and sustained a hell of a lot better than the others. *The Jem90 wasn't too bad, but I never got a tone I really liked from it.

Here are the Jem's I've owned:

LNG (2 of them)
DSY
VWH
90
10th

I've sold everything but the Jem10 because I keep it as my #1 player. *I don't believe such a guitar should sit in a case and not be played unless you can afford 2 of them. *I payed about $2300 for my Jem10 and I've got so much more than that out of it. *I bought it at the end of 1997 which would mean it's the longest time I've kept a guitar.

well, lessee, the count's at:

a 7DBK
a 77FP
a UV777GR

and a JPM100 and USRG10 just for good measure...

They all sound considerably different - I'm usually tweaking my amp settings slightly when I change guitars... & tomizm, you're right; you do want one with Breeds in it! beauty, eh...:biggrin:

How many have multiples

I'm currently at lucky number 7 on JEMS: *GMC, DNA #137, JEM90HAM, LNG #160, 777VDY, 77BFP, 77FP and a UV77MC for good measure. *I've also owned a 777SK and a 777DY. *I would have to agree that they are all very different in their own ways. *Even the two 77FP's that I've owned, though from the same model year, were VERY different in tone and feel. *I personally believe that the more recent JEM's are much more consistant, due simply to the heightened quality control from Ibanez. *Bottom line though-they're all incredible!

PS *Oh yeah...and JS10th #008, a Crystal Planet, JS90HAM, PGM90HAM and an RBM2...I think that's it! *Oh..the Sabre doubleneck and the RG-560 too!

I have a PMC, DBK and a RB. A custom Jem from Ed Wood will make #4 and will have pics.

I've owned a FP, SK and VDY.

Love them...play them and can't stop buying them...

It's good to hear from you guys. *I thought I was the only one having trouble not looking for another one...I have a FP, BFP, DSY, VWH, DNA #203, UV777BK, a Sabre, RG470, a Fender EC strat (that Rich H is dying to acquire in trade for my next JEM LOL!) and a Martin D-1 Acoustic. *

I think maybe we should start up a GAS clinic though. *I also agree every JEM has a different sound and I definately also have to tweak amp settings for most every one. *

And finally I agree that everyone should feel the need, the need for breeds (Probably showing my age pulling movie lines from Top Gun, but it could of been worse Jaws, Close Encounters or maybe ET OHHHHHHH).

11 of my guitars are Ibanez: 1 UV *9 Jems 1 RG;

Jem(Vai)2K-DNA
Jem 7DBK (two)
Jem 77FP (two)
Jem 7VWH
Jem 777LNG (Loch Ness Green is really LG, actually)
Jem 777SK
Jem 777VBK
UV 777(P)BK
RG-550DY (cosmetically "Jemmed"-green knobs and
* * * * * * * * toggle tip, Evolution humbuckers and DiMarzio
* * * * * * * * Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues. *Pickup bobbin
* * * * * * * * colors custom ordered to be green-yellow-
* * * * * * * * green-yellow-green like the ol' UV777GR)

Finances stopped the expantion but I plan on putting aside funds for future "gotta-haves" like new releases, Jem777dy, 77bfp, another 777lng, 77pmc, UV77mc, UV777gr. *Hey, at least they all get played. *I'm no rich businessman keeping them in a glass case keeping them out of the hands of people who also appreciate them. *These puppies were built to play as great as they look.

I've had a few. I now own a VWH and a PBK. But I've owned a LNG, RB, DBK, UV7BK, and a PGM90. All have had totally different vibes and sounds...

How many have multiples

I had a few more JEM/UVs and currently have a DBK, PBK, UV777BK, GMC, LNG, PMC, DY swirl and the GC Custom. I have found each JEM/UV to have a personality of it's own. For me personally, I didn't have the time and attention to give each one and ultimately i will be keeping only those that I can 100% focus on. This is why the PMC is forsale and a few more must go. The nice thing about JEMs is (barring the 555) any one has the potential to be a 'keeper' for life... glen

Ok, I must be the poorest guy in this thread. I have a 555 (yeah, I know ... ICK!) and a new DBK that I can't seem to pry my hands off of. Not gonna go into just how different they are, that's obvious. I do have to say that I like the evolution PUs better than the breeds though. I guess I'm wierd that way.

Also an old sabre which was my main axe until I got the DBK.
