How to get pickup bobbins in any color you wish?

I love Dimarzio pickups and I figured out a "possible" way of chemically dying the (forbon) material of the pickup bobbin of a white DP159F Evolution pickup.
White is the best choice because its a natural primer. look for the liquid dye products and colors at this link below:

http://www.ritdye.com

P.s. if anyone has had this idea before let me know so I don't go out and ruin a white DP159F hehe. Cheers!

I think DiMarzio do sell bobbin toppers for pickups without you going thru the hassle of dyeing the pups....

Doesn't Pickguard paradise sell pickup bobbin toppers? Just buy them.

Re: How to get pickup bobbins in any color you wish?

From what I know boobin toppers are just stickers that go over the actual bobbin toppers. I know this cause I bought them from universal jems and they were just stickers.

The reason why Dimarzio don't sell the actual hard plastic toppers is that the pups need to be wound and then bobbin toppers fixed in the same moment I think they hold the whole pup together. I could be wrong !!! Email them and ask them.

Good luck removing the original bobbin toppers to replace them with new ones you have colored. I assume you know alot about PUPS and how to wind them back up etc....

i got some pickup caps made by jeannies pickguards. despite the stupid customer service i received, the final result was pretty good. basically they are not stickers but caps about the same width as the tops of humbucker pickups. they recomended just bonding them on with glue, but instead i decided to lower the height of the pickup and then raise the adjustable pole-pieces up through the caps and getting them to stay in place like that. there certainly kept on there very strongly.

well i found him really awkward. first he asked me to confirm what colour i wanted, i then emailed him back telling him, but he said i was too late and he had allready sent them out, he also kept saying how i would have to pay extra for getting the correct product. happy with the product but unhappy with service, and im normally very understanding. i really wish pickguard paradise made the 7 string ones, because tom is such a quality guy. but they still do the 6 string ones i think

I had an good experience the first time I ordered from him. Then the second thing I got from him, a pickguard for an RG, was cut wrong. He just kept denying that it could possibly be wrong because he'd cut hundreds of them. Well, it was. He did a replacement, but the replacement had extra holes I didn't want. He admitted that was a mistake at least and i got a refund. It wasn't a nightmare or anything but he should've right off the bat agreed to replacing it rather than insinuating i was wrong.

I had a similar experience with the post-Lo Pro pickguards. Mine had a story of its own that was very frustrating at times, however, it got worked out in the end and I am very happen with the one he made. But it is interesting to hear he gives the same line to other people and not just me.

Man I could not agree more.......just a crappy product!! I ordered 4 F spaced
and one regular space in green. Total waste of money. I might put them on
some pos beater if I had one laying around. But on anything worth more
than $100? Uh-uh no way in hell.

Re: How to get pickup bobbins in any color you wish?

So to answer my own question is... Ah... no. Isn't there a way to do this? It seems like such a simple concept, but having to rewind pickups is not my thing I know whats involved, no thanks. Other than hearing no from Dimarzio about any custom colors does anyone have a clue on how to do this besides using cheesy stickers?

Cheers.
P.s. C'mon guys if you paid that much for a jem are ya really gonna put a god damn sticker on it? NOT!!!
