Hows the best way to ship a guitar in its case
I bought a guitar on **** and hows the best way to ship it. I was thinking of having the seller put a towl ontop or sides of the guitar to keep it from shaking around alot during shipping. Its in great shape for being almost 20 years old and I want to keep it that way.
Any Ideas?

Re: Hows the best way to ship a guitar in its case
I have no idea if this is the best way, but when I ship a guitar, I pack around the guitar inside the case so there is no movement, and then case is wrapped in bubble wrap before going into the shipping box.

Re: Hows the best way to ship a guitar in its case
Usually I will put some packing material down first, either crinkled up newspaper or packing peanuts or foam, then put the case in the add more packing material, newspaper, styrofoam peanuts or those air bags, and if it's a box I got with all the original packing material (which is usually just a piece of cardboard to hold the top of the case in place) I will use that then tape up the box and send it. When I worked at a
music store
that is better than 90% of what got shipped to us from the factory. Martin just puts the guitar in the case and shrink wraps it to a full length piece of cardboard, Gibson just uses the case and the top piece of cardboard to stop the guitar moving side to side, Fender just used boxes that were the same size as the case. Washburn would send the guitars no case, they would put 6 guitars in individual thin cardboard boxes then put the 6 boxes in one big box and ship them out. My EB/MM was just the case in a box, no packing material.

I agree. There is that little gap between the body and the outline of the case holding the guitar.
I def like the bubble wrap Idea. Thanks!

Randy, have him wrap it well in bubble and fill in the remaining gaps with paper, TP (or any sort of filler) to make it snug in the case.

I always loosen the strings a bit, make sure there isn't anything that can go flying around on the inside of the case (like a
trem arm
), and wrap the headstock in bubblewrap as well. Or, at least secure the headstock so it doesn't move.

Re: Hows the best way to ship a guitar in its case
I:
Loosen the strings to ensure they won't snap, make sure there is enough tension on them to keep the trem from bouncing off the route on a Jem.
Put some wadded expanded polythene sheeting (the slightly springy stuff) under the trem.
Put a sheet of newspaper between strings and fretboard. Wrap the neck in a sheet of polythene sheeting, and wrap the headstock in another one.
Set a sheet of thin bubblewrap in the body indent of the case and lay the guitar into it. If its a really nice finish I'd then put a large soft cloth over that, then a folded sheet of newspaper between pickups and strings, and another sheet of bubblewrap over the strings.
Shut case, wrap in large bubblewrap and tape it on. Find box, insert. Post.
