I finally scored a '97 UV7BK from Evilbay!!!
Hi guys!
I have bought a '97 UV7BK from evilbay. (This time the transaction is 100% OK and the seller is the (verified) real seller
) I've been looking a LOOOOONG time to get such a baby!
I can't wait 'til she arrives... only to strip the bodies' paint, have her "money-gripped" and painted black again. Man, she will be awesome!
Keep on Rocking in the Free World!!!
Regards,
D.

Great! I was watching that guitar..
I thought it was like 4 days left or something but when I checked the auction yesterday it was ended. How much did you pay?

950 Euros, which I think is a fair price for it. It comes with the original case.

Hmmmm,
I wanted to see how my UB7BK would look with the
monkey grip
, so I did some graphics manipulation, and this is how it looks
I love it!

Re: I finally scored a '97 UV7BK from Evilbay!!!
aslong as you don't plan on selling it again as i imagine the value will drop a lot because of the modification and because they are of a limited run.

Gaz
Heya Gaz!
How limited is this run? I've heard less than 1000. In a mail on the UV Glen said:
"I will ask around about the UV '97 some more. I have a hard time believing
Ibanez would be THAT aggressive with 1000 units produced (these are very
slow sellers) and since they never appeared as "closeouts" i honestly think
they were made in a small batch then "on demand". It would be interesting
to know the UV777BK production totals to date (which imho might be just
over 1000) ...g"
I agree with him that I never saw any "closeouts" of this UV too. How much could there be around of this particular one? I believe it's also the last non-AANJ UV produced.
What do you guys out there know about the '97 UV7BK?
I don't plan selling it, by the way. It's my first (owned) UV (I've had some for some time courtesy of a friend who collects Jem/UV's, so I know the guitar well) and I wanna keep it, just like some other "special" guitars (A customized '88 X-300 Pantera, A (rare) non-korea Fender Montara I bought new aeons ago for $600 then, A hand-build Yamaha Classical guitar I got via a friend around '90) throughout the years. Some things ain't for sale, how bad things may get. Some of my guitars are amongst those. I pick up and drop RG's continuously. They make good "workhorses".
I always remember a guitar that I lost, together with an Yngwie
signature strat
, a Jackson, a '66 tele, a "gold" stratocaster ("goldstrat"), a few Kramers and a few other axes when my house burned down in '93. It was an Eko, and the model "Shortgun". It was sort of a stick with a rifle-kinda body. It was an aniversary special. Came with a very powerful Humbucker (that survived because I mounted it into the Pantera). Man, I've been looking to get another, but they're HARD to find. Love to get one and put a whammy-bar in it.
Anyway,
Regards,
D.

D.

Re: I finally scored a '97 UV7BK from Evilbay!!!
I know it's off-forum, but here are a few pics of the Eko ShortGun I found on the Net:
It was really one of the most playable axes I've ever owned. Damn, I still miss it at times! Also, it is so small that you can take it with you where ever you go. I really enjoyed this axe with a Zoomfx and headphones in trains and busses... Mine doesn't exist anymore. It got burned to ashes with the custom-build case I had made for her when my house in Holland burned down in '93 under the most painful of circumstances. Since I lost all I had then, I moved to Spain and started my life from scratch. Only the guitars mentioned previously were saved, due to being stored at my GF's house.
*nostalgic sigh*
Regards,
D.

Lol. That is an adorable itty bitty guitar. I want to put it in my pocket and take it home. And give it a bowl of warm milk.
Or something.
What scale length is it?

Re: I finally scored a '97 UV7BK from Evilbay!!!
Does it have a chip (painted over) on the top lefthand side? And is the finish worn through to the wood (also painted over) where the trem spring cover plate is?
Just hope is does not, it was mine and it sucked! Ironically the UV7MC (which is the same guitar with a different finish) was miles better and sounded awesome.
Welcome to 7 string heaven!
