I need some help with my new Jem

Hey everyone!

I just recently bought a Jem77vbk and its lovely, plays unbelivably well. Just one problem i have with it. I dont know if the bridge is set too sensitive or something. Lets say i hit two strings at the same time. Gstring on the 14th fret and bstring on the 15th. Then i bend the g string at the same time. When i do that the bridge moves a bit up so the note i didnt bend sounds a bit off. Any suggestions on what to do here?

Thanks! /Anton

Welcome to floating trems. Look at the tech section at Ibanez rules (banner above)

Yeah, this is totally expected and I don't think there is anything you can do about it.

But you'll learn to compensate for it the more you use the guitar. At least I hope you will

Compensate the slightly flat second string by binding it up a bit too. Takes a little practice, but works very well in the end. Don't have problems with unison bends anymore

I am just joking but you sound like a perfect customer for the Stepmax trem.

Ignore me.

Not sure yet. Was probably gonna sell it on bay but not gonna sell it till I get some assignments out of the way.

I went through a stage where i bought all these parts so i'll be selling a few necks, few bridges and a swirl body as well. Only thing is I'm in Australia and I don't have the time to organize all the shipping prices and I i'm worried that it might be mega expensive to ship to US. Maybe not so much for the backstop... however i did pay 38US for it to be shipped here.

Which sucks cause there isnt that big of a market for these things in Australia.

Re: I need some help with my new Jem

A little while ago I realised I've been subconsciously tackling this problem without even realising it. Whenever I do a bend like that, I use the 'nail' side of my right hand middle and ring fingers to ever so slightly lift the bar up and release it at the same rate as the bend. Freaky. I never set out to do it on purpose, I just seem to have picked it up along the way.
