Question

I want to fit a sustainer into my lovely DBK, but which one?

My amazing DBK is begging me for a sustainer after I bought a brand new Jackson DK2S for £180 off evilbay.

The sustainer is made my maniac music and is cool, but there is a weird delay effect if you switch off the sustainer without selecting the bridge pickup first.

But I hear Fernandes do a sustainer? So which is the best? Who has owned one or both??

After all I want the best for my JEM :-)

Steve uses the Fernandes sustainer but most keep saying that the sustaniac is better plus the battery is smaller if I recall correctly.

Both 9 volt. And according to recent news Steve has had several sustainiacs installed as well as fernandes. I have used the fernandes and now use the sustainiac. I prefer the sustainiac myself. It comes in both single coil and humbucker sizes (fernandes 401's are only SC and 101's are not worth buying in the first place), sounds much much better as a pickup, is easier to install and requires less mods to the guitar, and the fact that it is several peices wired together instead of one board means you can place the knobs and switches in places better for your playing. Of the two i say sustainiac hands down. But that is just me and i may be wierd that way. And the delay you speak of is common in both brands. Since the sustainers automatically select the bridge pickup when on there will be an audible yet short sound outtage when you click them off if you are not in bridge position. So happy hunting
