Ibanez body, edge or lopro - question for ya...

I have a body that I bought. How do I know what trem was used in it originally? It has an AANJ. Refer to the picture under the thread "next swirl project" in the "jem and universe guitars" topic.

Second. Does it matter which one I use....

Thanks very much...

with the AANJ it's a good bet it had the LoPro. *Unless it's an early Exotic Wood USA Custom. Any 1990s RG with AANJ would have the LoPro, until the new ones that came again with the Edge.

A link to the JPG would be cool. It really doesn't matter in my opinion either way. Regardless of what has been said about the routing, etc. Good luck... glen

Glen here ya go...

Heres the problem. The neck cavity doesn't have anything stamped in it. I have emailed the guy that I bought it from but I don't know if he will know what type it is. I don't know if it is an RG or exotic.

Lacewood top with a mahogany body. The lacewood is real thick.

Will either of the trems fit?
As always, thanks for you input.

Lacewood is expensive!! so I seriously doubt it's a Korean model.

Rich, the body is in 9 condition. Not a flaw in it accept for a few surface scratches that could be taken out easily...

I just want to make sure I get the right trem for it.

Aren't bodies usually stamped what model they are in the neck pocket?

*Usually*, in fact I've never seen one that wasn't. Of course I've never had any of the USA's apart either. Glen, get your screwdriver out!!!

According to the jemsite information...

The body was a USA exotic wood. The model number is UCEW1LC. Trans Red, lacewood top and mahogany body. Retail was 1500 and it was made 90-91.

It used an Edge.

Glen, your site is absolutely incredible...

I am still wondering about the lack of a stamp. It has a paper shim in the neck pocket that says Ibanez on it but nothing else...

It's not stamped because it's made in the US by a subcontractor.

Not bad for 112 bucks...

Rich, it originally came with an edge. Can I use a lopro edge in it?

Thanks

Yup, but you might not get the same amount of pullup.

Rich, not that much of a pullup guy. I might put a claw into it anyhow. Maybe even a grip. Not sure yet.

Thanks for all of your help...

I personally would not swirl that body as it's a UCEW1LC. Made in 1990-1991 and shipped with the Edge. See the USA Custom spec sheet.

Killer axe w/ the thick top. Either trem would work... glen
