Re: IBANEZ JEM ULTRA ZONE GUITAR
For those that don't know the history, this was something JD built on his lunch break, just being nice. Nobody asked for it, nobody commissioned it, he just thought it would be cool to make him a guitar to emulate what was on the UZ cover. He used a JEM90 neck and put in maple? crossed inlays, the body I believe he built from scratch.
Steve being Steve, he immediately gave to Jemfest? to raffle off [I think, might have been another event but it was raffled off]. A SEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL was the winner [although, she might have been 8 or 10, it was a decade ago]. Within 2 weeks her jackass father was trying to fish offers of 15or25k, whatever ridiculous number it was, including posting an add for it in this forum and on ebay, etc. Evidently he found the one person on Earth that put any serious value on it at all, and Fernando traded him an older Vette [my guess, 8-10k worth of Vette at the time] for it.
It was crazy then, and he's evidently even more crazy now. NOW it probably has the value he paid for it then, but now he's trying to get 10 times the number.
If anybody remembers, about a year later Emerald Guitars presented Steve with a VERY COOL and very close rendition of the UZG, that one I believe Steve kept.
