Ibanez Root Beer Neck??

is the neck on the earlier root beer jems a lil beefier than the other-newer jems?? thanks

I did not experience my '88 RB neck to be the same as the neck of the Jem 10th I had. To me the RB had more "shoulders", more of a D shape. Hard to explain, and I might be wrong but that was the main reason why I sold the 10th and kept the RB. The satin neck on the 10th was good, but a played RB neck is not far off in feel.

Sorry champ both 10th and RB's have the same neck aswell. Apart from the binding.

perhaps years of playing on one "breaking it in" vs the other? I "feel" a difference between my two jems, but im chalking it up to it being played in so much.

Sounds like the logical answer. Could also go down to the finishes on each of the necks.

From Jemsite: Features the original "777" neck which was a bit fatter and more "D" shaped. Over time the same dimensions were used but the necks seemed to have an altered profile. http://www.jemsite.com/jem/spec.htm

I don't know for certain when this was altered, but I'm quite sure the necks were not exactly the same.

did some research on the matter. JEM necks are hand finished and from that can create variations, not to mention the differences in profiles that you stated.
