I'm in love!

There is a JEM7VWH at a music store in my town and I am just head over heels for her. The guitar is perfect. My grandma wants to get it for me for my birthday. I can't play like Vai so I think it would injustice to get a guitar I am not worthy of receiving. I've also been checking the Satch models out. What do ya think? Should I or should I not go for the Jem?

hey Vai also breaks RGs onstage, but that don't mean they're no good!

point is, if you love it get it. think of it as just another guitar, not "the Vai guitar"

I have a JEM and I never play any Vai. I hardly listen to any of his music anymore (Well S&R album sometimes...). It's a great signature model 'cause it doesn't have Vai written anywhere on it.

Ps. I'm only playing as a hobby, which means I'm not really very good. That is no excuse for not having a best possible instrument

My Jem7VWH was a gift of which I was totally undeserving, I felt -- and still feel -- like a Chevy guy driving a Porsche. But it's been wonderful, the kind of instrument that inspires me to try to play better and make music more central to my life. Go, Grandma!

The difference in the two is mostly feel since the fingerboards are different. This difference in materials causes a slight sound difference but I feel the greatest difference is definitely the feel. Rosewood (7VSBL)pores are bigger and more spaced out than the much smaller and condensed pore structure of ebony (7VWH). They both feel, play, and sound great. The rosewood has more of a traditional feel to it, though.
If you want to show it off-the vine is clearly easier to see on the 7VWH and gold hardware can wear off easily (if that is important to you at all. Try 'em both and check out the hands-on players reports on this site.

Good luck and rock on.

Does anybody out there even own a Blue Jem? They have been out for a while now and nobody is snatching them up as fast as I expected.

I recently saw the VSBL in a Sam Ash. Looks so much better in person, though I think the vine could have been a little brighter. They had the VWH right next to it. My nect one will be the VSBL. I have already had 2 VWH's and they are VERY nice! But the blue just grabs me
