What's the problem? They are all but extinct now. People will pay that much and more for the ones that are left. It doesn't really seem that bad -- they will get more expensive in the future.

I know this problem. I think the green becomes darker by and by, when pups or knobs are in "use" and not stored. So the problem is if you combine used pups with NOS knobs or vice versa.
For example:
The Green of the pups and knobs is the same on an original guitar

Here a combination of old VBK humbuckers with NOS knobs. The green of the humbuckers is darker and doesn't fit to the knobs.

Re: Insanity!! How much for a pair of green knobs?

That's an AWESOME DNA.

I've seen this before on knobs. I ordered pink knobs strait from Ibanez for about 8.00$ a peace. They didn't match the Dimarzio PUPS at all. So i did a little research. Apparently the original knobs are white, and then painted. Therefore, the colors are much more brighter than the plain factory "molded" colors. Sims customs has a set of Orange original knobs on his website for 49.99$ or something. There was a guy here locally that had a set of original pink knobs that i wanted to pick up for my FP but he wanted 120.00$ for the volume, tone and switch. So I passed on that.
Unfortunately the original knobs match Dimarzio PUPS so much better than the current Ibanez factory stuff that if I get another chance on an original set i just might pick them up. Some one could probably make a killing molding white knobs and painting them if they could get them to match correctly...
