Question

Is it Worth it ?

hey guys i know you guys are going to be a great help for me... i know that most or all of you own at least one Jem, well i'm serious thinking of getting a jem a 7v to be exact, the price they are offering me is reasonable and doing the math on the shipping cost from the US to my country is far more expensive than to buy it here so that is no question about it that i would buy it here... anyways i'm aware that if buying the 7v jem wont make a Steve Vai nor a great guitar player... i also aware that having it wont make me sound like him but it would improve my tone and sound... so i have a question is it worth buying a jem and own one, to be proud of it and should i buy it?
what were you thinking before you actually got it?
the reasons of why you got it?
i think this question cover some dubts i have about it...
thanx you guys and if you feel the urge to curse at me dont think it twice...
thanx again

I just spent a considerable amount on my own 7V. They are worth it, but that depends largely on what style you play in and sort of tone your looking for. I purchased my Jem because that was the tone I was looking for and my playing style suited the Jems appointments (scooped trem cavity, thin neck, hot treble centerd pickups etc...). Really ask yourself if this particular guitar truly suits you.

Just my two cents.

Worth is really a personal preference, but in my opinion... YES, they are worth it. They are great guitars, very versitile, sound and play great. There is a sense of pride owning a Jem. After my 1st Jem I was hooked and now own 3 Jems (all different models of course) and would own more if I had the $. There is, after all, a reason we have "Jemsite". We love our Jems.

Jems are like drugs, Legal drugs. u get addicted and u dont want to stop. but stop after like 5 of them so u dont go into poverty. But still. Like ive been told. Having an expensive guitar wont make u play better, its the guitarist that makes the instrument sound good. But having a nice guitar will motivate u to play that guitar every minute of everyday and practice to get the very best u can be. Dude. its been workin for me. i havent stopped playing guitar and my practice times have been longer with great results. Buy a jem dude. U wont have any doubts after owning one.

Go on now, shes waiting for u.

I would say if you are serious about guitar, then yes, get one. You need the proper equipment as well as much practice to take it to the next level. If you wanted to street race cars you wouldn't do it in a yugo, right? It'll make it easier for you to keep improving, and it will keep you motivated as well.

I would suggest you try as many other different guitars (not just Ibanez) before spending a lot of $$$ on a Jem. For the money (at least in the UK) there are better guitars to be had.
