Is there a particular system with these JEM model numbers?
Back in the Day, the plainer JEMs had a single 7 in the model number and the others had more. For some reason, the FP was only 2 but it was basically the same axe as the 777V's but with a fabric/clearcoat finish (before the pickups were direct mounted).
Then, in the early 1990's, the GMC and PMC came out in their swirliness but with different fingerboard but they, too were 77's only separated by their finish code. I would assume that was because of the direct mounting of pickups that they had in common with the FP at that time (Y/N?) but the maple-boarded models were the same model#as their rosewood sisters.
After that, new pickups and woods came about but we went back to the single 7 number. It makes sense to me for the DBK and the BSB but not for the VWH or VSBL. Usually, any kind of spec change from another current model would constitute a different model number.
I was just wondering if anyone new any details about this since it's so untraditional. Thanks.
