Yep. But I touched a DNA.
The "highest" Ibanez I actually played is my S540. But the "best" Ibanez for me is my modded-to-death S470. But I'm still curious enough to try a JEM someday.

The best Ibanez I've played is an RG-7620. I've seen a JS-2K
Crystal Planet
, a JEM2k-DNA, and one of those 6/7-string S-series double-necks, but not in my lame @$$ town.

Hey Street- it looks like you live in the Boston area. Why don't you head out to the Guitar Center or Daddy's there? The GC in Natick always has a 7VWH and DBK up on the wall...
In fact, GC Natick is where I tried out my 1st JEM (DBK)... and then promptly bought one from Rich

hey Beast. Nice to know theres another Massachusetts Man out there. Actually I'm from Kingston (Next to Plymouth) Next to Matts Music. They have every Ibanez xcept for Jems. (Grrrrrrrr) I actually bought my HM strat from Daddys in Dedham, cuz its right next to my school . (Nice guys, but no Jems) Whenever I go to the GC in boston (is the Natick one better?) i always get in weird acustic or Gender Moods and never go to the Ibanez section. Good thing too cuz I'd get some serious GAS!!!!

Your're in Kingston, eh? May be closer for you to go to the GC in the Providence, RI area (can't remember exactly which town it's in)... they had a couple JEMs there recently. I live north of Worcester, so I'm usually hitting the Natick GC or Shrewsbury Daddy's.
And it's funny- the Boston GC is always loaded with PRS's and Strats, but it's pretty skimpy on the Ibani. I have noticed that every time I have gone to the Natick GC, they've had a couple JEMs... last time I was there (2 mo. ago) they even had a JEM10th and HAM on the top rack.
It's hard to say which one is better... I favor the Natick one though... seems to have more variety.
And I know what you mean about the Daddy's staff- they're awesome. Totally nice, helpful, and they actually know what a guitar is. They all look and come off as real musicians. The store is hit and miss though. Sometimes it's full of crap, and then next thing you know there's a ton of awesome used stuff there. They switch over their used inventory pretty regularly.

yeah. Daddys has great service. I got a YJM for free (the neck pu was broken) and they put it in along with a
tone zone
for free. I also got a setup from their best tech and and a new fret job. I go to the Ded store alot cuz they're right next to my school, and it usually has some good stuff. They were also had no problems with me shipping out four guitars (2 HMs ands RG770) really nice guys

Nice to see a Boston contingent in the house! I'm from Watertown...
I'll pipe in for Daddy's.....great folks who will bend over backwards for you once you get to know them. They've almost always got a Universe in the lisitngs of used gear (the listing is available online at
www.daddys.com
) and Jems pretty often; you might consider asking if they'd have it sent to the store for you to check out; I had them do this for me a few times and they were fine with it.
GC Bostons a weird place....they have tons of high-end gear but I rarely see it ever getting played. Natick just serems to have more that's accessible to most normal folks' budgets.

Too bad they killed UGBM. It was poorly managed to begin with, but was convenient in some situations. I visit the Daddy's in Milford Connecticut whenever I get back there. Last time I was there they seemed to have less used gear and more new low end stuff (lots of Squiers and RG1* - 4*.) It really reminded me of walking into the recently defunct Mars music.

Yeah....UGBM was a good setup for them; it helped alot for those of us that couldn't make it to the actual stores when they were open.
Daddy's has always been about low-end new gear first from my experiences. Even when I first started frequenting them 12 years ago they always stocked low-end gear mostly and it seemed like the general locale would dictate what they had in for used stock.
They dodged a serious bullet with Guitar Center though. Since GC has much less space and gives priority to new gear Daddys has a nice niche to sit in and they seem to be doing well with it.
But...to keep this topical....they're very good about getting guitars in to try but not neccesarily buy if you're not 100% into it. I did this when I was shopping for a Universe about a year ago and when I found out it was a black-dot neck and preferred a green-dot neck they went and got one of those in for me without me actually requesting it. I only found out because I was in the shop a few weeks later when it came in.

You guys seems to be pretty lucky, having such a big selection of gear.
In my hometown in sweden, i'm lucky if they have a RG270!
If I drive 80 km to Guthenburg, there are some RG5xx, but I have never seen any jems.

I'm not too particurally found of GC Boston. They can get ant gear you want. Thats nice, but thats where it ends. Their used section is horrible. Their service isn't too good either. I always see people just walking around, not looking to help anyone. (Unless their a first time buyer. It seems they can smell newbie blood from down the block. Thats why the have so many Tom Delonge """"strats""""""") Usually I just go their to browse, but they never come up to me to ask for help, unless you look into their eyes. This is just my experience. I've been to the Marss in Natick, their selection sucks (well not really, but ALL they have is Gibsons and Strats, not even any Yngwies!!!) but they had good service.
