Jem 10.. does this hurt value?

I saw this on that place... (220190530571) and was wondering if the value of the guitar is badly hurt by putting a fernandez in it?

Should have gone with a sustaniac and the battery in the trem cavity. No wood would have had to be removed.

What's your thoughts?

Dave

Definately. Stock will almost always hold more value.

Hmmm...let's see, a few extra holes in an already sweet ride: Not a good career move.

That guitar has be resold several times and has never had trouble finding a new owner.

Didn't you have this in your inventory once? I'm sure I remember almost buying one from you a while back (with the lack of cash at the time making that an "almost")

I did, and also did extensive work on it. It had the poor fret set many 10's do. Nobody will be disapointed in it as a player now.

It does look like a well done job, and if it has the Rich set-up it will undoubtedly be a phenomenal player. But to answer the question, yes, it will not get as much as a stock 10th would because it has been modified, regardless of how good a job it was.

The Fernandes sustainer is awesome, but the problem is that if you ever what a real neck pickup, you could never do the swap due to the switch holes already drilled. Still, I'd be happy to own that.
