I'm not 100%, but I think that was the one. As I said, it was probably about 2 years ago... maybe more.

To be honast, I'm not a huge fan of the DNA's, but that one looks awesome....

Re: Jem 20th price in Australia OMG !!!

There is only a hand full of really serious Jem users in Australia right? Chances are, are that all of them are here on this site? Well if all of us stop bidding stupid prices for Jems the price will go down right? So lets start a priority list. The first of us in the scheme will get a priority number. Starting at number 1 they get the choice of the guitar, if they don't want it or can't buy it, it will go to number two and so on. Right, now we have that sorted, since I thought of this brilliant scheme I am number one..........

Re: Jem 20th price in Australia OMG !!!

Bugger that...

If I remember correctly, Rich knows or can roughly estimate the number of DNA's that came to Australia. Which wasn't very many.

...And Sif I'd want to devalue mine. I'll sell it cheap for $20k AUS. Mint condition. Not even any fretwear. Not a scratch...not even on the scratch plate.

I do play it sometimes (i.e. barely ever), but I can never play it "with feeling"...I baby it, which means I don't play very well when I'm playing it...Although it is set up really nicely.

It's crazy, I had lusted after a Jem for so long, when I finally was given the opportunity to buy one it had to be a DNA... Basically it cost me a tiny bit more than a 7VWH at the time, who could refuse a deal like that. The 7VWH would've gotten more use. But meh, I've got something I love. Bought it sight unseen, and it makes me smile everytime I open the case, then it makes me grin everytime I play her.

But I've got two other modded RG's to abuse. So they get the most use. Plus I'm so over the freakin floyd rose thing. I wonder if Rich has any tremol-no's in stock so I can put one on my 570.

The only song I ever recorded on using the DNA was this one, and even then I only used it to record the middle bit (with the heavier distortion)...AND even then I think I'm a bit flat in that section. GAH!!

link to song... streamed though Need to join up as a fan to d/l'd it. Won a Track Of The Day award too. I attribute that wholy to the use of the 2kDNA....

PMC's & GMC's were retailing for around $3500 at that time ('93). You did well to get one at that price. Do you still have it??? Want to trade for an FP?
I never understood why they went so cheap for a while. I bought a Universe MC for 1000 in 1997. I could only sell my Jem For 1295 in 1994. And now sky high. Regret selling the FP, and still have the PMC.

back to the original post
congrat on notice about the crappy tax & import system of aus. The gov & customs will suck your $$ dry before you even get to touch that thing. Guitars and amps in aus are always being sold at ridiculus prices when imported officially,

not to freka you out, i once try to offically import a DVD from Japan at the price of $50au, i was told the price will become $1050. Because by officially importing it, (throught a retailer), it will have to go throught all these government crap which cost $1000au

just freaks me out....for that money i can get a box load of dvds..

My local guitar shop gave me a quote on one of the Yellow 20ths for $1987- which i think are the same numbers that they are world wide? seems like right here is the best place to buy one of those, for once.

the shop told me about it
its a japanese bookstore, lets keep it private for now
but they said for them to offically get it for sale, it will have to go through all that crap because the Japanese DVDs are unrated and doesnt go with the aus standards.

they might be telling crap, but who cares, theres always net shopping
