Re: Jem 555??

Keep your iPod, man, keep your iPod.

It'll give you much more enjoyment than the 555 would.

I'd imagine the 555 necks are alright (seeing as Steve's got a few guitars with transplant 555 necks that he plays regularly) but the Lo-TRS trems won't give you anything but trouble.

It's not really as shi!tty as many have claim they probably owned the the real deal which is why when they've played a 555 it sucks as hell, it's an ok guitar but still too expensive for it's standard

A girlfriend of mine has one. I don't like the feel of the neck at all. Like I need to gain weight in my fingers to accomodate the gargantuan HUGE FAT frets. To me it's unconfortable and feels NOTHING like a real Jem neck.

Your right mitom. It really isn't THAT bad of a guitar but since I play the real deal, it doesn't measure up to my standards. But then.....other than a (real)Jem not too many guitars do anymore. It's a Jem curse

Actually i have a JEM 555 and it is a JEM so stop saying it isnt.... I set it up for a mere £30 ($60) and the LO TRS is perfect... doesnt go out of tune at all..... it goes the tinyist bit out of tune (not noticable) if i thrash it around (and i mean thrash it, like what he did in Building The Church - G3 Live In Tokyo at the end) and that is what makes it go the slightlyist bit out of tune... if u guys cant be botherd to set it up.... then your pretty pathetic.... and i find the guys sad who said it isnt a JEM..... yes it is... and a bloody good guitar too... (looks lush too, the 7V is ott on the looks... its like a Mr T guitar..)

The 555 is technically a Jem, yeah, true enough. And I doubt that it's really a bad guitar, many Korean RGs are just fine for what they cost. But what bugs the crap out of me (and many others, apparently) is when people imply that the 555 is essentially the same thing as a 7V. It simply is not.

On a side note, it's kind of depressing that the 555 argument that's been raging around here lately has progressed to the point that we're bumping 10 month old threads to continue it...

Re: Jem 555??

I've got one too - as well as a "real" JEM7V. Mine has the EPII trem.

Particually on the vai.com boards, you'll see young, sichophantic vai fans who bash them even though they probably couldn't even afford one, which is unfortunate as I maintain they're good guitars, and are a good spec closer to the high end JEMs - moreso than many entry level signature models - i.e. the JS100 with it's powersound pickups...

You're not going to tell me that you play you're 555 more than your Vwh.....are you???

Lol...what's with all these ~old~ threads being drudged up today??

I didn't say they were BAD guitars. 555's are not BAD guitars.

But there is a reason it says "Jem JR" on the headstock. I've played both the VWH and a 555 enough to know that there is simply NO comparision at all WHATSOEVER! (other than the Evos)

Waste time defending them all you want, or go get a REAL Jem
