No offense, but it seems you're trying to make yourself feel better about owning the 555 after seeing so many people here dissing it. I agree with them. It's not a JEM, it's a cheap version of a JEM which is nowhere near the standard of a "real" one. The guitar should never have been produced. Even Dave Weiner will tell you the same thing. A good, mid-price Japanese RG blows it out of the water, and THAT should never happen with a "JEM".

The real affordable JEM is, and always was, the RG550.

Winner!

A 555 is to a JEM what a squire is to a strat (not counting the MIJ ones). It looks the same, and with a lot of work it might come close, but its not worth the effort. By the time you get a new bridge, fret level and finishing, new hardware (I assume you would want it all to match), you could have gotten a kickass RG that would require no work to play and sound great.

Re: Jem 555??

hell no 555 is good guitar ive made som mods on mine and its better then my rg570... ichanged the tremolo to a edge unit and installed a fernandez sustainer kit on neck.. the guitar is outstanding.. never mind to the nazist stuff of some people. the 555 is a jem with rosewood body( like flo, should i say) and rosewood dfingerboard link MOST rg prestige line. the pick ups are THE SAME evolutions on every jem that has evos. the only thing that has to be changed is the tremolo. its a small investment to trasform it in a very good axe. Once i considered to change the fingerboard to one with complete vine inlay.. so i thinked well and say ok **** the nazi..

oh.. by the way i have a JEM7v too..
