RG 5xx and above.
Reasons; better bridge is really all one has to point to. Jem 555 players will point to the need for most to change pups on the RG and their 555 comes with Evolutions, but it's MUCH easier, and cheaper, to replace pups than it is to have a guitar totally refitted for a better trem. Granted, previous models with the Low-TRS can use an Original
Floyd Rose, but the newer models (not sold in the US, and I don't think anyone cares) come with an Edge Pro II, while better than a TRS they are still not as good as an Edge (Pro, Low-Pro, Original) and since they are totally different in construction, you can't just drop an OFR in there without re-routing the guitar.
But if you MUST have a
monkey grip, lions claw and a vine inlay, even if it's only half a vine, and can't afford over $1500 (US) for a guitar, then you have no other choice . . . for me though, I'd rather take my money, buy an RG and replace the pups . . . you'll spend less and have a much better guitar. (Please note that every 555 I've picked up hasn't been horrible, some have been quite nice, but I'd still not pay that kind of money for what is supposed to be a "cheaper" version with a sub-quality trem.)
