Re: Jem 777dy stuck in customs

They actually happened while I was stringing it. There were none there when I received it.

The guitar was in near mint condition. A few fingernail scratches on the pickgaurd and that was it.

There were no cracks when I started and they were still not there when I removed the old strings. I noticed the first one while I was polishing the frets, and the other when I was tuning the new strings.

They are only about a 1/4 inch in length and very light. I know they are VERY common so it does not bother me too much, it just stinks that I had a 15 year old guitar in pristine condition and as soon as I get the guitar the cracks show up.

That's why I told you to watch yourself from sellers from Thailand, I'm not saying they are all bad but there's too much at stake and in the event of a
return Paypal isn't very easy to deal with assuming you used them to pay for
this, and then you have to ship it back all the way over there=headches!!!
hopefully all you have are finish cracks that don't affect the sturdiness of the neck joint at allremember it's an old guitar so these things are bound to happen, if you want to be sure how bad the crack are you can take off the neck and examine the inside of the neck joint, obviously if you don't see a crack on the inside then you are in good shape.

Well that's odd....are you sure the neck is snug in the pocket?? Surely you couldn't have been that rough with it??? Just bad luck???

Re: Jem 777dy stuck in customs

I can tell you in older guitars these neck joint cracks are really common. I spent alot of time freaking out about the ones on my jems, but they are really just the nature of the beast. I can tell you from my experience not to worry about them and just play your new, awesome guitar!!!!!!!

I agree...just think its odd that they happened right before his eyes whilst re-stringing. Ususally it'd take a bit more like a knock against something.

Re: Jem 777dy stuck in customs

I really doubt this has anything to do with where I bought the guitar.

Like I said the guitar was in near mint condition when I got it. The seller would have had nothing to do with it. It happened in my hands not his. The guitar is in emaculate and show virtually no signs of wear.

The previous owner bought it in the US in Iowa and sold it after he moved to Thailand.

This same thing has happened on other older jems and my UVMC I have had that I was the original owner on. From experience and what other users have mentioned on jemsite, this just seems to be very common.

I am happy with the guitar, I just wanted to share my story.

Stay away from all Asia evilbay sellers bro!- its a lucky dip if you buy a guitar on line, best save some cash next time & shop around the USA & see what you can get in person is the best bidd!
they should shut that evilFuc#er down for good! maybe so many bro's won't have buyer remorse or get done over!

goodluck bro!- Jake.
