Question

Jem 777dy stuck in customs

Hello, I hope I am posting this in the right area.

I purchased jem 777dy from someone who just moved to Thailand. He shipped it from Bangkok to me in the U.S. and now it is stuck in customs.

Does anyone know how long it normally takes for a guitar to pass through customs? The Post Office was not able to provide any estimates. They said anywhere from a day to a few months.

Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.

Re: Jem 777dy stuck in customs

I see you bidding on Jems on **** constantly!!! with so many DY JEMS floating around
why did you deal with someone from Thailand?!? I tell you I hope you aren't in for a big
disappointment... I bought a guitar once from a guy from Thailand that goes by the name of Liquid Nitrate, it was terrible!!! the worst mistake ever, I had to wait a long
long time before the guitar arrived I even thought I had gotten ripped off but finally the thing showed up but when it did, it was a sad state of affairs, the guitar was not in the shape that the photos and the description portrayed... bad choice pal.
To answer your question though the guitar might be held up in customs for 1 to 2 mos
if you are lucky and depending on how this person declared item, for ex: as gift,
or if it was as a sale it depends on value he declared on the instrument. Customs aren't dumb and if they figure the item was undervalued you'll be in for a lot of headaches, plus the mail will never be able to tell you were the packege is even if you have a tracking number they will just tell you that, it can't be tracked and that it will get there when it will... sorry I know this doesn't sound too good but I hope it helps.

Re: Jem 777dy stuck in customs

Thanks. I never seem to ever win any jems on ****. Finally I win and now I am stressing. I guess there is a lesson to be learned in there.
Actually, his profile said he was from Iowa and he had a good user rating. He has been great to deal with and has bent over backwards to make sure all of my questions were answered so I felt very comfortable.

Right now I am more concerned about customs delays. My fingers are crossed that I do not have to wait forever.

Usually, 7-10 days. They will probably open the package to verify contents, that's all.

Hopefully everything will turn out well for you, if Rich told you 7-10 days then I guess
you have nothing to worry about he seems to know a lot more about this stuff anyways.
I was just trying to tell you in my experience what happened. For me it took a month
to get the guitar but I was told that it could've taken up to 2 months,oh well, that just taught me a good lesson, to avoid buying guitars overseas when we can pretty much get anything here in the good old US of A.

Re: Jem 777dy stuck in customs

He contacted me a couple years ago wanting to sell me 4 guitars, Jem's and "something" else, been awhile. I'm very conservative when buying, especially from overseas, so I wasn't interested, but in the exchange he said he had a Rainforest. Then he said there was a dealer in town [where he had bought it] that also had a new Donnie, Rainbow, and 10th. After many attempts to get him to send me a picture [and you know he has a digicam] and the plate numbers, he writes back to say he had just found out it was a copy and wasn't real. Yea, the whole story I'm betting. Nobody ever paid any attention after the boy cried wolf
