Jem 777SK Germany
A member mentioned this SK and it looks to be in pretty good shape. They price isn't right, but they accept offers.
My question is, the next has been finished, how easy is it to take the finish off and at what consequence?

Re: Jem 777SK Germany
as per rules, you are not allowed to post ebay auctions on this site, as for the gloss it depends what was used, but there are many simple methods to removing certain finishes, im assuming its either shellac, tru oil or something similar but it can all be removed with steel wool and possibly laquour thinner, and if you are careful and polish up the board you won't tell the difference.

PRICE TOO HIGH?? EMAIL ME AN OFFER!
Pretty sure that violate's eBay's TOS.
eBay has a separate "make offer" option if the seller wants to accept legit offers.
I would not deal with a person trying to break the rules of eBay.

Dealing with them would be fine, but DO NOT pay outside of ebay for an ebay listing.

Re: Jem 777SK Germany
That guitar is from the Netherlands, and still is there.
Its only listed on the bay in Germany to get more public.
I'm pretty shure i've seen this Jem before it was Refinished on a local auction site here in the Netherlands.
I once Sold the guy my USRG draggon tatoo.
Went all smooth,I have nothing negative to say.
He Deals a lot in used guitars.
As far as the refinish goes,i have no clue if its well done.

Yes RJVGuitars have sold a lot of Jem's and highend Japan made guitars for a long time. Think i have seen that sk before to. Or it might have been another one, as they sell alot of Jems. But they are often quite expensive.

Re: Jem 777SK Germany
First.don't post ebay auctions...... especially if your interested in the guitar. Your only driving up the price. I'm sure you know this, I'm just re-stating the obvious.
Second...you don't remove the finish on the fretboard. It needs it. If the job was done poorly, take it to a professional that knows how to finish a maple fretboard. He/she will know how to finish the back of the neck at the same time.

Re: Jem 777SK Germany
ok, before the real police gets here, I am now rule 'compliant' and have removed the link
I'm interested in it, by means that its a SK. But considering the nicks on the back by the trem plate, and the finish added to the neck, we would be no where close on price.
Just curious if it could come off as easily as they say it can.

The finish should be able to come off easily, however i am not sure the price is right.

Re: Jem 777SK Germany
I've also bought from that guy. He sells a lot of high end guitars. The transaction was fine - guitar came fine, on time - and he lowered the price a bit.
My guitar tech discovered immediately though that the neck had been refretted with fatter frets. The seller had assured me the guitar was 100% original - when I put this to him afterwards he apologised and said he "wasn't technical". It's quite likely he doesn't poke around too much into the specs of each guitar - he just sells them on.
Make of that what you will. Aside from that of course he has great feedback.

Re: Jem 777SK Germany
I was going to buy this and the price is actually reasonable and the guy rjv is quite an amicable guy. I didn't buy it because I was looking for minty mints not a players one but this seems more than fine. I've studied the pics good however his make an offer is to deal outside of bay because of fees but not very negotiable. The one I found was for less. Had he given me only 100 euros off I would have bought it.
He has a very nice js2kplt however they keep cropping up in mint for a lot less so that's why I haven't bought from him yet.
I think he is honorable. At the end of the day it is business isn't it?

Re: Jem 777SK Germany
It's a very nice SK, people want them, but it's overpriced - that's why it's been sitting on the bay for months. Same or better has and will come up for less. Everyone's got to do business but it's a buyer's market at the moment.
But did you guys see the 25K DNA? Or should that be a new thread...

Re: Jem 777SK Germany
The one for 25 thousand dollars?!?!? that was pretty funny.
For me the SK is worth at MOST 2,500 ridiculous mint. I think a good condition VSK just sold here for less than 2K, and not long ago some felt 3,600 was fine if you could pay it.
Let's not be ridiculous - this particular SK would be okay for me at about $1,600 - $1,700 USD. I doubt he'd sell it for that, so how the saying goes, keep your guitar
