JEM 77B RMR Issues

I apologize first for starting a thread that's already here...somewhere. I really did do a search first and after a couple of pages gave up.

I have a JEM 77B RMR which has some distortion in the finish. The majority of the mirror top is flawless but there's a fist size spot of distortion near the trem. It looks like the finish was smeared or something. Has anyone else seen this?

Also, at the edge of the contour for the arm rest I can see very fine folds or creases (for lack of a better word). Is this common too?

both areas look like 'paint streaks'. if i where you i'd ask for some sort of explanation from ibanez customer services directly. well done for pointing this out. it makes everyone else aware of something to look for.

The creases on the bend are something I've seen on both of my B RMR's. I purchased the first one used and it had a couple of dings in the body (not the top) so I purchased the 2nd one NIB and unfortunately got this distortion spot. The first B RMR has those creases as well but only about an inch or so across, unlike the one above where the creases are along the entire bend.

Its virtually inevitable to expect a wood body to never responde to changes in its environment. Look at guitars from teh 50's with finish checking all the way across. I would imagine in 100 years these jems would look horrid :9 I still like the guitar whatever issues it may have

It seems most of the BRMR's have some issue or other. The binding is starting to come away in one spot on mine. The finish irregularities on yours look more like bad sanding of the clearcoat, but it's tough to say from the pics.

Personally, I gave up caring. I think the more battle scarred it gets the more I'll like it anyway. Less to worry about.

From what I understand, the BRMR guitars are very hard to make. The mirrored surface is softened and then sucked down onto the guitar body via vacuum if I remember correctly. I wouldn't be too concerned.

theres horizontal lines on body i saw when i cleaning my guitar. it can be seen by look under the light.
is this normal? or a factory mistake :s
