JEM 7VWH dot inlay mark
hey people,
i am looking at getting a used JEM 7VWH from a
local music shop
. The entire guitar is awesome but there is one concern: one of the dots inlayed on the side of the neck (fifth fret) is brown. The doesen't seem to be any wear around the dot marker to indicate tampering, it seems like the guitar came like that. So, for all of you who have JEM 7VWH's could you tell me if this if standard on all JEM 7VWH or is it just a factory defect kinda thing.
thanks

Probably a factory "defect" if none of the others are that way. On my GMC, one of the two 12th fret side markers isn't the same color.

Mine are all the same color, but one of them is recessed a little bit. That really bothered me at first.

If you are in TO I think you may be looking at my Jem...
On mine one of the side dots came loose and disappeared, and I re-inlayed it with maple.
I loved that Jem, as you can see.

I'm getting a Jem7VWH pretty soon.
I hope it doesn't have any defects, but if it does, I don't care that much. Like Steve says, it gives the guitar character, lets it tell stories.
Though I guess saying "it came that way" when asked about a defect isn't a very exciting story.

when i got my JEM7VWH it had a very badly painted Lions Claw compared to some of the others i've seen had some pretty bad pain bubbling and one entire side of the lion claw's wall was bare wood.
Still one kick ass guitar mind you i went over the bare wood myself with some white paint and nobody really noticed unless u closely inspected the guitar.

The routing behind the bridge on the Jems...looks like a lion's claw took a chunk out of the wood
