Jem body template

Does anyone have a genuine copy or scanned copy of a Jem body -or could someone please send me some info regarding any sites which may be useful.

I believe there are enough Jem owners on this site to have the info I need.

Thanks

Widdler

Do you mean blueprints? Go to history section on main page and scroll down to the bottom.

The drawings (from the link) seem to be for the routings only, not the body blank.

I've never seen any drawings for the shape of the body....only the routing.

I must not be understanding this.
The link above takes you to a lo-res and a hi-res version of the JEM blueprint.
Even though the hi-res is somewhat cluttered, I believe it contains ALL the information needed to produce a JEM body.
Including the body shape itself.
And that's what you were looking for, right?

The blueprint doesn't have dimensions for the shape, though.

What would you do with the dimensions on a "freeform" shape?
If you were to have all measurements, you would end up with a blueprint that would be impossible to read, or a list of dimensions longer than Robert Downey Jr's rap sheet!
Have the blueprint printed out at full size, and trace it.

You could trace a Jem or RG.... but RAI6 is right. It's not so much the info you'd put down- it's the fact that you couldn't read it. The numbers for those curves I would imagine are done by machine or templates- either or which are only available from Ibanez, and the machine codes wouldn't do you much good unless you happen to own a mill (and the software to read/operate it).

so is the large blueprint actual size or do we need to enlarge it? my screen seems to be very unfriendly when it comes to showing the real size of a pic (imagine my surprise when a floyd cavity that was a perfect fit on the screen turned out to be half the size in real life...)

The blueprint on this site appears to be at 100%

Comparing things on your screen to real life is impossible.
You cannot assume that the color is going to right, and the size could be whatever.
If you take the same image and view it on a monitor with a different resolution, it will be a different size...
I believe.
Anyone really computer savvy that can confirm that?

If I remember correctly, in the lower right corner it says that the scale is 1 to 1, so it is to scale. I believe that RAI6 is correct that it depends on the resolution of the screen. The problem is that you can't print out the large copy. It will only print out the small copy. Sorry I couldn't be of more help........

Save the file to CD, and have it output on a large format printer.
Kinko's or any other printing service should be able to do this for you.
I printed it out at work, and it seems to be just right........

There is a slight proportional matter when you print out the blueprint. The pic is somewhat resized verticaly so you must adjust the vertical dimension to be as the real guitar. If you have CorelDRAW software, you can resize it acording to a dimension, let say, pickup cavity. Then, split picture onto two layers (because it to big to be printed on a single A3 page) and then print both pages. Join them in the middle and check with your JEM/RG guitar placed onto the joined pages. If it is not understandable, leave your e-mail and I will send you .cdr file.
