JEM brought the VAi out of me! And a Question...
What a night to remember! So I got into my college's Talent show. I played a 1:30 minute b*lls-out solo and then played "For the Love of God". I didnt play exactly what VAi plays, I played my licks over them. But I nailed every lick nearly perfectly, and quite a few of them were rather risky for me to play them live. This includes tongue harmonics, Michael Angelo moves like the flip-hand and hand over the neck shredding, 6 string sweeps, ya know, the usual. Adrenaline was just running through me, so after the song was done, I did some masturbatory dive-bombs, and then reached over ripped out my strings, making awesome feedback noises and raised my JEMG7VWH over my head as the entire crowd made a standing ovation!!
Best performance I did by FAR! I got second place, and won 250 smackeroons!! Here are a couple of pics of my "Angel" after the show! The bridge slammed so hard against the body, it made two itty bitty paint chips in the lions claw (you have to look waaaay under the bridge to notice them). Nothing like battle scars! My mom took a video, so I should be able to convert it to digital next time I head home (maybe next weekend)!
Maybe someone could answer this for me. Could ripping the strings out have adverse effects on the neck? This really didnt dawn upon me until an hour after the show. I retuned her up, and everythings fine, I'm just a little bit wary about doing it again
Update: I posted a studio recording version of what I performed at the show. I personalized FTLOG to my style. I wanted to come off as a c*cky, aggressive, ruthless SOB through my playing, so I have a bunch wild harmonics and other cool things going on.

Re: JEM brought the VAi out of me! And a Question...
I'm self taught, never had a guitar lesson, but I'm starting to learn jazz basics. I've been playing for 7 years. Thanks! I love my JEM! She's so unique! Here's the thread with more pics of my JEMG7VWH.

damn I wish I could play like that, although I've only been playing for just over 1.5 years or so. Good job man, I'm anxious to see a video.

Tone is a tad harsh to my ears, but it only adds to the effect. That really comes across well.

Re: JEM brought the VAi out of me! And a Question...
Nice playing, as always. But that Jem with EMGs is like watching blink 182 playing a Jem... so painful to look at
Quite a good job of putting your own signature on the song (because you could or because you're like me and can't remember the notes... either way it worked great).

Re: JEM brought the VAi out of me! And a Question...
Never understood why EMG's in a JEM is soooo taboo...lol. But i guess this is a JEM enthusiast site. At least I didn't put in the black ones....::shudders::
