JEM for classic rock
I know everyone on this forum is probably a JEM fanboy, but I have a question. I really like the look, playability, and sound of JEMs. I've been considering getting one as my next guitar. I like Vai alot, but mostly listen to and play classic rock. If I got one, I wouldn't only want to use it when I play stuff in Vai's genre, I'd like to use it for all styles of music. Do y'all think its a good guitar for that?
Thanks

Re: JEM for classic rock
Most certainly, just switch to the neck PU for a more full ballsy tone or play around with the single coil for the strat-esque sound. Add effects as needed. All of this however depends upon which Jem you get, they're not all constucted from the same parts and materials (Basswood, Alder, Breed's, Evo's, PAF's, etc....).

Re: JEM for classic rock
Right now the band I play in mostly plays classic rock...and it's perfect. However, I'm in the market for either a
Les Paul
or a stop-tail PRS.

Absolutely not. It is forbidden by many laws to play classic rock on a Jem.
If you do the neck will fall off and the handle will close up.

Also, never play it with anything other than an Ibanez amp. Never mix and match things like Gibson guitar/Fender amp, its seriously detrimental to the guitar. How do you think Evo got that crack?

Re: JEM for classic rock
Thanks for all the replies guys. I've played a few JEMs, and as far as I could tell they did seem very versatile. I just wanted some opinions from people with lots of experience with 'em. Ill be having lots more questions, and Ill certainly come here for answers.
Thanks
