JEM FP

Hi,
I'm buying an old jem fp, and the pickups pink color's faded to orange almost (!)
Is there a trick to bring the pink back? (ex: stickers...)
I don't think so but I had to ask...
thanx

While it isn't a trick, you could buy new pink pickups for it, and put the PAF Pros aside. DiMarzio makes a lot of pickups

The pickups on my FP have done the same. But then it is about 14 years old! I actually quite like the effect myself, But I can see how some would find it irritating!

If the rest of the guitar has aged comparably, does anyone think that brand new pink pickups may look out of place?

Yeah I would personally leave them. I always like an "honest" guitar that shows all its age and things in the right places. If they are naturally worn and they still work fine, I would leave them in.

I think it looks kool. And they will only fade eventually anyways!

Yeah. I'm seriously considering changing the pickups in my '89, and was going to go with green or black, not pink. I'd even go with orange, but you'd likely end up in the same color-fade boat down the road.

I also think that faded and worn guitars look the coolest. I purposely fade my jem by laying it out in the sun for 8 hrs a day. joking! I would seriously leave it though, the worn look is cool.

Hi,
I got my fp, and in fact, the faded pink looks really cool!!! it's a 89-90 fp, the trem still works perfectly.
I think there was too much light on the photos that were sent to me.....
unfortunately, I've got no mean to take photos of it and show it to you...
apart from a few scratches on the contour ( I think i'm gonna use temporary black adhesive ), this axe is a DREAM.

I got it leaving a pod + a mesa studio preamp.
