Thanks... yeah I don't know what to do with that yet. Never used one before.

Re: JEM LNG 30th NGD!

I had an 1988 S540HH that had a backstop. It did it's job in helping the trem return in tune from pull ups but the bar was a lot stiffer, less boingy. I didn't really like it. You can either use it to keep it in tune after pull ups or you can set it so if you break a string the rest should stay in tune if I remember correctly.

Backstop? Why? It must be some of the last things the average reissue buyer wants or needs.

You don't need to use it if you don't want to. You can simply back it off and return the trem to free floating.

ITS A NEW THING AND I DONT LIKE IT!

OK!!!

On the other hand; if I can use it to tune down without having to take day off, I probably would like it. MAYBE!!!!

Yes, you can set it up to a fixed "simple" tuning (i.e. Drop D on the low E string).

Also it's not a new thing at all. It's quite an old thing. And Vai personally uses these on his guitars including EVO.

Of all the things to complain about, adding essentially a free backstop to the new 777s is certainly not one of them. It's a pleasant surprise. These are hard to find and quickly removed for those who don't want them.

Re: JEM LNG 30th NGD!

You don't even have to remove it, just set it so it doesn't touch your trem at all then it's not doing anything.

Agreed. I was very glad to see that they at least stayed true to the original in this aspect. No one piece neck, no palm rest, and Evos instead of the PAF pros, all of which I understand the rationale behind, but at least we got the backstop!

I wonder if this means they'll actually produce some backstops to sell. They're getting more and more difficult to find, and the used market prices on them are insane these days.

Evos? Not Paf-pro p/ups? Fret-wire 6100 or... 6105?

You know in 2 days everybody can know everything....

They will not produce backstops to sell, I've already asked, twice now [once after EVO, and last month].

They sound like PAF Pro's to me but it's been a long time since I've had them in anything. They do not sound like ceramic mag pickups to me.

Re: JEM LNG 30th NGD!

Is the JEM emblem on the head stock gold vs. the original pink? Most obvious changes are on the back, or behind the scenes. Just the emblem and volume knob seem to be only front changes.
