Re: Jem Neck

There's some banners on this site for folks who make duplicate necks for jems and rgs. That's the closest you'd get without looking hi and low looking for someone with just a neck. Hope this helps.

Re: Jem Neck

Is it to replace a broken or worn one, or just for a project. Sims do custom stuff it expensive but they are fully custom good communcation too!

I tried them while putting a universe together!

Re: Jem Neck

Tighten your truss rod a lot, you'll get the idea

They either need to be -

Put on a neck heater and trained, then put right on a guitar under tension to hold it.

or

Frets pulled and board planed.

I've been meaning to get these over to have my buddy train them on his neck heater but I just haven't gotten around to it. I've had him do several for me over the years, the last was a UV neck that's on that list and it was perfect when I got it back from him but I didn't put it under tension and within a couple months it was in backbow again, just not as much as it was the first time.

well a neck is just a few peices of wood and wood can warp , twist or do other crazy things you wouln't except it to . plus lets say on average a guitar string takes 15 pounds of tension to tune to pitch well 6 times 15 is 90 pounds of tension on the neck . the truss rod could have been improperly set in the neck , or be broken .

most common cause i have seen though , is tempurature(sp?) change and pressure change . it is really warm one day and the next a front blows in and it is below freezing...... so on .

Yeah, I know all that, I should have been more detailed, what causes severe back bow thats bad enough not to be fixable by truss rod adjustments...

Re: Jem Neck

More than likely from sitting too long with a too tight truss. The wood takes a memory, or when it hot the fretboard slips a little, etc. Then it needs to be retrained the opposite way, usually just allowing the fretboard to slip back is enough.
