Jem Pickups? - Mods on my 90th.

Hello all...

I'm in the process of completing my final upgrades on my jem90ham, I'm going to change the corroded pickguard, which is right now totally smeared with marks and ugly stuff. The same guy who did the perfect stainless steel UV pickguard is going to do it for me.

I wasn't too pleased with the Evo pickups that came with my jem, I'm thinking of changing them as well. I'm open to any suggestions, I might even go active but I'm too sure about how they would sound on a jem. Hope you guys can give me some suggestions!

And please don't flame me for the mods on the Jem90! LOL!

Thanks!

Chris.

why would we flame you its your guitar??? as for evos I dont like them either to harsh for me, I like the PAF Pros myself alot smoother. Other Dimarzios I like/have Air Norten Neck, Tone Zone Bridge, Fred Bridge, Steves Special Bridge, most of my guitars have PAF Pros in both positions. So other than that its up to you.

GOOD LUCK

Hey Chris, how much was the SS pickguard? I might be interested in one for my '90.

As far as the pups go, have you tried the Breeds?

Go for it! If you're not happy with the sound, looks, or whatever, by all means change it to your personal preference. I just got my 90th, and I've already ordered a guard from Jeannies. That stainless guard sounds cool too, I'm interested in as where to get one. As far as sound, the 90th does have a different, warmer tone than my 7VWH. Aka: Alder vs. Basswood, which is very cool.
The Breed's sound pretty good for a variety of stuff. A lot of folks here prefer the PAF's Les Paul like tone. Tone Zone's are pretty well rounded, and would make a nice transition.

Jem Pickups?

I have been searching for someone to make me a Stainless steel pickguard for a long time, this was due to the fact that I was very disatisfied with the cheap plastic mirror pickguard found on the UV777bk. It was, for me, the plastic mirror that would ruin an otherwise beautiful and very classy guitar.

I got the pickguard done by a sign maker here in Singapore...LOL...!

As for pickups, I might be interested in checking out tone zones, possibly even tone zones for both the neck and the bridge position. As for the middle position I might even go for a stacked humbucker like a fast track.
