JEM prices in UK

I went to a guitar store in London today and saw ’98 7VWH and the price is 1100₤. It’s in good condition except from a few paint chips behind the body. Then I asked the store assistant can I get it with 800₤ (about 1600$ which I believe it is not a bad offer)? He furiously replied “Do you know what guitar is that?” It’s the guitar that Steve Vai plays, come with ebony board blur blur blur.

Anyway, just want to know is it the usual second hand JEM price in UK? I saw 07 new one price at 1750₤. What is the approximate price range for second hand VWH or VSBL in UK? Sorry if this topic has discussed here before.

I think you can get some great second hand prices on 7vwh, if you really have a good look for one, you can find a nice one for around £1150, some sell for even under a grand. Also there is a vsbl for sale on here for £1175 i think.

A new JEM77VBK, £1799(3545USD) AT gak i was dead dissapointed when i saw the typical UK price for that JEM.

Yes that's a usual second hand price in the UK, in truth if it's in decent condition, £1100 might even be on the cheap side.

Zoot's pricing is about right, and so yeah you did pretty muich insult the store you were in - two words. Ibanez, Rules.

thanks for your explanation. geez....amazing prices people who complaints about JEM prices elsewhere in the world, come to UK and check them out

another stupid question, I understand I need to pay 17.5 % VAT if I import a JEM from other countries. What if I declare lower purchase price, so pay less duty? How does it work?

You also need to pay import duty if importing from outside the EU - its about 4% I think on top of the VAT

If you get the seller to under value or declare as a gift, this would effect the insurance value if the guitar is damaged in transit. Your choice if you can find a seller who will do it ...

If you're in the UK you can score a brand new one for 1300 GBP all in (taxed & shipped).

It's up to yourself what you value a used one at.
