Just stumbled across a book called 'Guitars - Design, Production and Repair' by
Jim Donahue. It's actually on the newsgroup 'alt.binaries.guitar.tab - it contains an overview of when the prototype jem was being designed and built. It's a very cool book and talks through about all aspect of guitar design and construction too.
