JEM Question?
The name of these axes...has something to do with the book JEM,
written by Frederik Pohl???
This book is from 1978 so is before the creation of the model.
Does anybody know something about this??????
THANKS A LOT

The name came from Despagni's shop,
Custom Jem
Guitars, or something like that.

I think "Despagni Guitars" was the brand, and "Jem" was the model...
its all right here in the "history of the jem", too lazy to look it up now...
still doesnt answer where Joe got the Jem name from

Actually, almost every guitar I've seen that he's made has JEM on the headstock. It wasn't so much a Despagni model - it was a
Despagni brand
, I guess. A friend of mine in college knew I was into Jems and knew Joe so he gave me a couple of brochures.
