Cool

Jem String Gauge

Does any1 know what gauge of strings that the jems are originally shipped with? I feel very comfortable with the stock strings and i want to keep on using the same gauge.

Re: Jem String Gauge

Don't they put Elixirs 9-42 on the prestige models?

I know D'addario is mainly used in the mid range indonesian and korean made ones, their higher end basses are strung with elixirs.

I don't know if they stopped using elixirs for the prestige models though.
I always change the strings when I buy a new guitar.

you always want to use the same gague for floating trem guitars. if you switch to .10's the trem would have to be re-adjusted and if not tuning hassles and trem issues will arise.

Re: Jem String Gauge

9-42. I've been using 9-46 on my Floyd-equipped guitars for years but I think I'm about to move back to 9-42 on some of them, mainly cos I really enjoyed the feel of my Jem when I first bought it, before I changed it over to 9-46 like the others.
I have 10-52 on my Telecaster and Strat copy, and I'm thinking of putting some extra heavy strings on my Bigsby-loaded Talman, because it feels a little wimpy using a Bigsby with thin strings.

Every Prestige I have seen had D'Addarios on it, but I have no idea what the basses get.

Re: Jem String Gauge

Cool thanks for the answers! I knew they were nines just not sure if they have fat bottoms. But i guess its 9-42. Do u think its worth it to buy elixir strings? Do they last longer / sound much better? Ive used earnie balls since i started playing and i love em, never had a problem.
