Jem Validity

A friend of mine is selling a jem 7V WH. He bought it from a friend and says I can buy it off him. However. He doesn't have a hard case (which all 7V's come with, no?) and he doesn't even know if it's genuine. The serial number is C02060829. Does the C mean Chibanez? I don't really want a fake. Please help, thanks, Jon

The case thing is sketchy, but it's not a given that you'll always get a case.

That serial isn't from a Japanese factory and that is where ALL 7v's are made, so yes without a shadow of a doubt it is fake. Stay well clear!

The serial of mine is F426663 so it seems a bit fishy.

Re: Jem Validity

Is chibanez an actual name or is that the term you guys are putting on Chinese built knock-offs?

Re: Jem Validity

Haha, my friends "Chibanez" is #C02060830, which is one number higher than this one!
And it's deffo a Chibanez......
I myself have a Chibanez which is C02060876.
Both of the above purport to be JEM 7V WH's, made in Korea, and with a CE mark. Yeah, right.

Sounds like the one you mention is a fake as well, sadly.
I bought mine knowing it was a fake (who would turn it down for £40???) as did my mate.
TBH, the neck is actually quite nice......I know I'll get killed for this........
(I'm currently in the process of making a player out of it!)
