JEM vs Jcustom
Greetings, wise people of jemsite, i have a few questions regarding the above
does the JEMs
lions claw
give it a higher trem pullup range than the JC?
can the JCs Edge-Zero bridge be swapped for a Lo Pro or Edge Pro? routing required?
what's your experience with the above models?
which one would you take(if price weren't an issue)
im referring to 08/09 models, if you were wondering. the 8470 in particular.
thanks all!

Re: JEM vs Jcustom
yes, i think the lions claw gives a higher pull up range than any other RG, depending on set up though.
and to fit an EP or LP you'll need to put in a bit more wood in the back and probably cut a little bit.
sorry, but i've never played either lol. i'd take a
j custom
any day, i believe the quality is slightly higher and i'd never buy a signature model anyway.

Re: JEM vs Jcustom
No it doesn't give you anymore Range its purely cosmetic. The Edge-Zero trem in a j-custom wont need to be swap it if set up properly its a good trem so don't worry about that unless you really need to. Personally the pick is up to you keep in mind though the necks are different and I think so are the materials of the body so it depends what your preferences are for those to. Cheers hope this helped.

Re: JEM vs Jcustom
I think a lot of it has to do with the year of certain Jems. There seemed to be a lot of magic in those early ones, a little tinkering trial and error during the middle years, and then of course kind of finding the right mixture over the later ones. While tasty, they never seemed to have that initial pizazz!

Re: JEM vs Jcustom
interesting, i always thought the monkey grip had to do with pullup because ibanez always advertises it as,
'monkey grip for extended pullup range'
oh well, its bogus.

Re: JEM vs Jcustom
well the monkey grip has nothing to do with the trem, its the handle
I think that teh lionīs claw did give more pull up range but only with the original edge since the lock screws were very large

J-Custom. The only Jems I ever would consider buying are all made in the 80's.
If you are seriously considering a
Jem
, you should also consider any RG. In most cases an RG will be a better choice, especially when bought new.

Re: JEM vs Jcustom
I'd take the J-custom. Monkey grips are stupid.
