Jem10 - Do you play yours!?

The chrome pickups on my Jem 10th have faded through play. *I have been told that it is not possible to get a replacement coz Ibanez made the 10th as a collectors guitar - not as a player! *This seems a real shame. *Do any of you 10th Anniv owners actually 'play' yours?

You can order replacements from DiMarzio, they just don't 'stock' them.

Thanks for that, Rich. *I may try and order a set as 'spares'. *Seems daft to replace them now and have the new ones fade a year down the road - makes for expensive maintanace, eh!?

I got my 10 from Rich before Thanksgiving and have played it only once. It is going to stay in it's case until I receive the custom lucite display case.

I think it's a shame not to play this guitar. *I bought mine with the idea to collect it, but I ended up keeping it as my #1 player. *

It has chips and dings in it all over the place but it has personality. *All the pickup chrome has long since faded away.

So, if you ARE collecting one of these not to play, I've just made the value of your guitar go up! *

yeah i also play mine every day, it's my #1. *only one of the pickups is all messed (pretty much half the chrome is gone,) the other two pickups actually dont have that much wear on them. *i thought i was like the only one who plays their jem10..

I am a collector of sorts. I have some pre-cbs and some early gibsons. I play them all the time. Have I depreciated the value of them? A little. So my early Les Pauls are worth a little less than what a mint one would cost. Who cares. They are still obsenely higher valued than what I paid for them in the late 70's.

If a guitar is real collectible it will appraise hundreds of times higher than it's original cost when it was new. If it doesn't than it wasn't really a collectible, was it.

Anyhow, do you really think the kid that plunked down a couple hundred bucks in the late 50's new that the LP he was buying was going to be worth 100 grand in 40 years. Doubt it. So it was played.

I have seen some pretty beat up LP's going for some outrageous bucks.

Guitars are made to make music, not to hang on a wall or be locked in a closet...

Just my 2 cents
