jem555 my verdict

hi folks ive been reading a lot of storys mostly bad about the jem555 this is my verdict on the 555 in 1996 i bought a jem555 for £899 $1750.on first impressions i loved it powerful di marzio pickups but i didnt like the single coil as its very quiet nice for clean strumming.bridge and neck pickups great nice tone the neck on these 555s are fat took me a while to get used to it.the trem now this is were it went pear shaped awwww bad real bad.if ibanez had of put a better trem on the 555 instead of the lo-trs there would have been very few bad reviews.other than the trem what we have here is a very decent guitar ive had mine since 1996 11 years id much rather have a 7vwh but these are mega bucks.all im saying is the 555 is a decent buy for the price £600-£700

theres trust worthy websites in the UK as well that do the 555 for £650. A quick google search should bring them up within first few pages of results.

Re: jem555 my verdict

I havn't had much to do with 555s.I tried out an amp once in a shop and they gave me a 555 to use as it was the nearest guitar to the bsb I had at the time.Back then though, they didnt have the Evo's like they do now.
My impressions were that it didnt feel so solid, and I hated the way the vine finished half way down.I never use a trem that much so can't comment on that.
The thing is,however nice it is,it's still not the same thing. It's like owners of Epiphone Zakk Wyldes, putting in some Emg's and saying it's as good as the Gibbo version. It's not,and you're never really going to be happy with an imitation no matter how close it is to the real thing.

Re: jem555 my verdict

They were definately not evo's in the 555 I used.I'm not saying your 555 is crap, but when put against a Jem made in Japan,it does not compare favourably.
As far as Vai having one in his vault, well that doesnt really mean anything,he also has strats and les pauls in there
