Jem555 - print on headstock

I noticed that in the "jem spec sheet" section the following thing was mentioned about jem555 model:

"Ibanez' designated "JEM Jr". Prior to January, 1997 the 555s had "JEM Jr." inscripted on the headstock"

But if you look new Ibanez jem555 models for example on official site of Ibanez (www.ibanez.com, or anywhere else too) it seems that these newer jem555 models have the print "jem jr." on their headstock too..?

Does someone have better information on this..?

Re: Jem555 - print on headstock

Actually this seems to vary, some jem555 guitars seem to have "Jem jr." and I think the new ones "Jem J" ? I asked this from Thomann (Europe's biggest internet musicstore) and they verified that the jem555 ones that they are selling have "jem jr." print on headstock. And they are the newer ones with "Edge Pro III" tremolo.

Yes, I got my Jem555 week ago. Just wanted to make sure it is original Jems555 and not fake one modified from Jem333 because it was used. On the front of headstock it has print "Jem jr." and on back "Jem555 WH" (jem333 has "Jem jr" on the back also) and a serial number starting with "C04.." and also "made in Korea". I guess the "04" means it has been manufactured in 2004..

Re: Jem555 - print on headstock

I think I'm satisfield with this. This info confirms my info that I found yesterday from the internet.

Both Jem333 and Jem555 can have "Jem jr." print on the frontside of headstock (some Jem555 have "Jem J", the newer ones) but on backside of Jem555 is "Jem555" and ont the backside of jem333 is "Jem jr.

You asked for the info of my guitar. Well, it has Edge Pro II tremolo and Evolution pickups (obviously) and according to serial number it has been
manufactured in 2004. What else do you want to know?

Re: Jem555 - print on headstock

It's pretty good, but you can't really compare it to 7V. It's good for now, but maybe a couple years later I will buy a real jem..

Re: Jem555 - print on headstock

I had a 94 555 that just said jem on the headstock. no jr. at all. I bought it at st charles guitar exchange that is an authorized dealer. I think it was one of the first batches made because it had a black green black pickguard. like a dumbass I sold it a couple years ago. it was black.
I also had a white 555 that was a 94 made in korea that did not say jr on the headstock and had a white black white pickguard. it was second hand but the numbers matched. I also sold it recently. it was ok and sounded great but it wasn't as comfortable as the black one which I need to see if I have the serial number in a picture so I can see if it was made in japan or not.

Re: Jem555 - print on headstock

yeah I am not sure. the black one was really nice and I never would have sold it had I known what it was. I think I remember it starting with an f but I can't be sure. the difference was incredible. makes me wonder why a company would put there good name at risk putting out the junk korea makes. they feel like balsa wood to me and just isn't something i like. that is why I am trying to get a custom guitar built to copy them.
