JEM555/RG450DX? whats the difference?

is this just a simple swaping of stickers on the headstock? or are there different pups and stuff?

The 555 has dimarzio evolution pickups, monkey grip and the half vine inlay

But if you're thinking about buying one you'd be better off taking a step up and getting an RG5XX ,
Better quality and you get the Edge trem system which kicks the trs trem in the balls

Or if you've got the money just get a proper jem

I have owned both guitars ....

the 555 is what is currently play now, and its better than the 450DX, sounds alot sweeter.

another example of guitar snobery 3rd eye ??

the last time i looked, a 555 was a proper Jem... or does it have to have a Lo Pro to make it proper ?

OK OK point taken, it is a jem
But it is still the 'junior' jem in terms of quality and ability
compared to it's brethren

Would you call a jem333 a 'proper' jem

LOL !! ya got me third eye ...

as for the 333, i havnt seen it, so i couldnt comment ... but the very fact that it has jem on it means, its IS a Jem ...

but i digress, and if i could buy my guitar again, i would get a used "Proper" Jem as opposed to a 555, although i love my little 555, for all its faults ...

Different guitars for different purposes

The jem333 was almost certainly not designed as another guitar for vai to use, yet it's still a so-called signature guitar

whereas all the others, even the 555 in a way were designed with vai in mind

the 333 is fake in a way because you can't pick one up and say this is the masters axe

Then again if you look at the jem line as becoming more like the RGs with a large high and low end rather than a sig series, my theory goes down the drain
It's all relative

Sorry, i've gone way off topic here

I have both. The 555 neck is nicer than the 450ex. On the other hand the Trem is better on the 450ex.

The 450ex got a Trs trem.

Trs and Trs 2 are two totally different trems. The Trs is actually quite good. The Trs 2 however needed HUGE adjustements before it worked properly.
