Oh, so telling someone to use the search button for question that has been asked 100000000 times already is mean? If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

You guys seriously need to go back to the Harm Central boards...

Its also about time someone made a sticky 555 thread..

I agree. You'd be much happier if you did that. Not that they're necessarily bad guitars, though. I've played a JS100 and it was OK, really. Although you'd might want to change the pickups.

I've been on this forum for quite a while and I don't believe his intentions were malicious. Please feel free to come back and ask for advice/information. There are many kind people here who will help as much as they can.

Then in my opinion you should save up just a little more and get a professional level instrument. you deserve it, right?

Re: Jem555wh or JS100... PLEASE HELP!

Buying either of those would be a mistake. The biggest problem with both of them is that they are severely overpriced for the level of instrument you get. You can get a used 7VWH or JS1000 for the same money, and have a much better quality instrument.

Yeah, I was also kinda wondering what a "session guitarist" would be doing looking at cheap Korean POS guitars anyways. lol.

Re: Jem555wh or JS100... PLEASE HELP!

If noone else is going to be sensible, which it seems they aren't, and quite frankly telling poeple they have to thick skinned is, well, wow, kind of makes me realise why i don't post much here anymore, seriously, if I didn't know better I'd assume this place was full of complete arseholes, there really is no need for being a bunch of muppets and elitism now is there?

Elitism about where a guitar comes from? not everuyone has masses of cash lying around, and being an arsehole takes as much time as typing out a reply consisting of some helpfull advice rather than revelling in internet glory.

oh, and bring on the replies about how I'm a crybaby, I'll just have a good laugh and ignore them

onto the question, i think the newer js100's and jem555's no longer have the TRS trems which were a source of complaint, as, well, some were bad, and not all TRS's function well (it's a cheap floyd copy unlike the edge trems which are really good and are found on the higher end models).

hence, if it doesn't look like it's got a cheap floyd copy (thin base plate, will say TRS or lo-TRS on it) then it should be pretty decent and be ok, despite some opinions on here. The TRS equipped ones? Avoid if you can, unless you plan to bloc the trem in which case it won't matyter too much, and I think an OFR is a drop in replacement pretty much, and OFR (Original Floyd Roses) are very good, on par with the edge (different feel, but excellent stability, stainless steel etc) sio it's a decent upgrade.

As to which one, well, both are very playable guitars, but depending on tastes and whether the satriani has real dimarzios 9i think it has) then out of personal prefernce for musicality I'd say that is the better choice as I really hate the Evolutuions that come in the jem as they are pretty lifeless and a bit shrill, but that's my opinion, others will disagree.

Still, as said above, they're not good value for money as a lot of the price is the signature name. On the whole, if you were planning to buy new, I'd suggest hitting the second hand market for a jem7 or JS1 (JS1000) as you can normally pick up a quality used one for reasonable prices.

Telling someone to use the search function is a lot faster than typing out the 3 paragraphs you did.

Don't make us break out the waambulance on you too.

But seriously though, how does telling someone to use the search function elitism? Like I said before, if you can't stand the heat, go back to the harmony Central Boards.

Re: Jem555wh or JS100... PLEASE HELP!

To everyone who had an intelligent and helpful responce... thanks a million.
I think i'll pass on the 555 and the 100 and just get the 7.

I was gigging in vegas about 2 years ago and i played the 50th aniversary jem and i have to say i thought it was horrible. The pickups where terrible and its just felt wrong.

So thanks lads, gonna buy the 7!

As for lefty etc... if you switched your little PC off for a minute and went outside you might get a girlfriend (MAYBE), start a family and then realise that every penny you have cant go on guitars.

Thanks for the help guys!!
Much apreciated.

also to add, rather than a 555 if you dont want a 2nd hand 7vwh, also check out prestige RG's that again are better than 555's.

cant go wrong with a 7vwh though, the JS1000/1200 have different sounds and feel to the Jem, so you may want to play test them for the sound you want. both are excellent guitars though

Re: Jem555wh or JS100... PLEASE HELP!

This thread has run its course so I'm locking it up

St3vo, as others have said there is a search funtion that can be used and its a good place to start.

As a caveat to that I would pay attention to what 7 Dying Trees said though, in that there have been major changes to the JS100 and JEM555 recently that mitigate some of the criticism that's been heaped upon those 2 instruments. Personally I think if you can find a 555 that stays in tune (the older bridges on a 555 are not the same as on the higher level JEMs and have been known to have stability issues) it's a great guitar and if you like the look of the "half vine" then it's a great guitar. The JS100 doesn't have the same pickups as the JS1000 so I'd advise staying away.

As a final piece of advice though, saying you're a fully diploma'd classical musician on this site isn't going to do you much good or win you many friends, there's someone here who's either a better player or better qualified and we all try to treat each other as equal never mind what bits of paper we have.
