Jem7 PBK - Question about the neck/headstock construction

Hello there,

Yesterday I bought a second hand Jem7PBK for only 750 euro (ą675 U.S. Dollar).
The guitar has some major dings, but thatīs not such a problem for me. The only
thing I concern about is the construction of the headstock and the neck. When you
lay your hand the part where these two parts come together, you can feel some sort
of bubble (I donīt know how to say it in English, Iīm from Holland you see). In other
words you can feel some difference in height. Can someone say this is a normal problem
on Ibanez guitars, or is it a serious problem.

Thanks for your replies, Martijn

If you're talking about the scarf joint and one side being a tad higher, I have had 2 guitars like that, 1 was a GMC, I forget what the other was. Anyway, if it's showing no signs of separation it should be fine. I don't understand what was causing the rise, but the joints were completely stable.

Hoi Martijn,
I might know which Jem you bought, since I saw one for sale here a while ago.
I would like to check that with you for various reasons. Drop me an e-mail if you want, jeroen.noordhuis@planet.nl
Don't worry about the stabilty of the joint, tho. If it bothers you, it can be fixed.

Congrats on your PBK, Martijn.
Sounds like a reasonable price to me. Who cares about the dings, as long as it plays good.

I just found out on the site that the part Iīm talking about is indeed the "scarf joint".
It has no signs of "unstiffnes" or fragility(?), it looks stable to me. But wouldnīt it cause
any problems in the future, if I donīt play roughly with the guitar?
