jem777 shocking pink worth 600 US?

my friend is selling his jem777 shocking pink jem with tree of life inlay, made 2 major things on the guitar... he took the neck plate off and put in the front, cut the neck joint so it looks like a all acess one but did a bad job. does it still worth the money?

I would say no, that to me is a MAJOR issue. First of all, that neck joint will now be very weak, and since he changed the shape of the neck you can't even say it's a good neck and put it on a custom body. Had he actually added the block to the overhang of the fretboard, and re-routed the neck pocket it MIGHT be worth a little more, but as it sits it's not a very good neck joint. No ferrules in the body means the screws will continually sink into the wood, (can be fixed by adding ferrules) but there is very little contact between the neck and body there.
Sadly, I would have to say it's only worth what the pickups and hardware would be worth used, maybe $250 at this point. He's ruined the neck and body IMO.

by the way, I have no idea what you mean about the neck plate in the front?

I definately would not pay $600.00 US for that. You could buy a perfectly good player condition one for not much more if you look around.

I have to agere with LGM. That guitar is only worth the hardware and pups. About 250-300 bucks. The neck may be fixed though. You could add a heel on the bottom to restore the original shape. You are going to need a new body with the old style neck joint though. But that can only be made by a pro, and it wont be cheap. For a couple of houndreds more you can find a pretty good player condition jem with only minor cosmetic flaws.

That looks like crap. I wouldn't pay more than 250 IF I bought it.
The way that looks would bother me insane. I wouldn't be happy with it.
Should of left it the way it was. Neck plate in the front?

Nah, I doubt you could add any wood back on and make it decent. It's one thing to take an old neck joint, add a piece to the fretboard overhang and glue it in where it's all flat, but it's nearly impossible to add back to a contoured neck and make something useful out of it.
The fretboard might be salvage-able, but even that, if it's dirty may not be worth doing. If you look hard enough, and are lucky, you can find nice SK's for that price, the one I bought was near mint and I got it for $500USD. I've seen lots of beat up DY's go for $600 or less. Beat up is better than unstable.

I can't believe someone would mutilate a jem like that. I think I need a drink,... that's criminal. Please , just give it a proper burial and slap the butcher ,who did such an atrosity ,upside the head a couple times.

And no way is that worth $600.... I'm so sad now...
