Cool

JEM777VLNG

I was just wondering, why didn't they make a JEM777VLNG (instead of the JEM777VBK?), and here is my foundation for that thought:

JEM777DY ---> JEM777VDY
JEM777SK ---> JEM777VSK

And last, but definately not least:

JEM777LNG --> JEM777VBK

That's kinda wrong, and that's why I'm questioning the JEM777VLNG, it would (maybe) have been an impressive guitar, and, I guess, they would only have made 777 of them, as they did with the VDY and VSK, and, yeah, the LNG :-)

What do y'all think? Am i right, or what? ;-)

Re: JEM777VLNG

Steve had an LNG with a vine inlay, but as far asI know, the LNG was always intended to be a strictly limited edition rather than a production guitar. Hence no derivatives.

I have a pic of Vai playing the VLNG, I can't access photobucket from work but I'll post it when I get home...

That's cool :-)

And I'm looking forward seeing it :-)

Kinda rare guitar? Is it a prototype?

Is it the one with giant Monkey Grip and that stuff? If so, is it maybe that tha LNG Prototype was ment to be VLNG? But they changed their mind somewhere along the road? Just a theory, that's not holding water ;-)

Re: JEM777VLNG

It's a regular LNG just with a rosewood board and a vine (green vine IIRC).

Re: JEM777VLNG

pretty nasty IMO, although maybe it just needs a green headstock. Was never too keen on vines when they came out, pyramids were original & new, & vines were something Ibanez had done for 10 years previous.

But then again you can see why the went to vines on the FP & not pyramids

Re: JEM777VLNG

i guess, to keep it unique as far as value as well, i thinke if they made a vLNG they'll become less rare, so price i guess will go down.

Nice guitar, but I never want to see a man in spandex from that angle again.

The FP with pyramid inlay is unreal.

Re: JEM777VLNG

If that VLNG had the LNG headstock, it'd be perfect! And I dig the pyramids on the FP too, though I'm not sure really fits.

Re: JEM777VLNG

Those two are super awesome axes!!! But will never be in production. jem & UV models these days are just boring compared to what they used to be (believe me, i own one). What disturbs me more is Steve's pants in first picture...

Re: JEM777VLNG

I remember seeing Vai on stage with the FP with pyramids on that very tour, and even back then was amazed Ibanez didn't release the option.... was also GUTTED to find Billy had left too! haha... two major let downs in the same year, Sheehan/DLR and Sykes/Whitesnake

anyway! pyramids rule, especially on rosewood
